Are Indians (specially the ones without scholarships) the only breed of people who feel the Cash Crunch while studying abroad ? Is our currency de-valued ? Is it because our economy like China is more export based ? But what about the Chinese then ? They dont feel cash cruched like an Indian. Is this a silent consequence of reduced brain drain in India ? At least it may appear to be a consequence of a policy that does reduce brain drain.
Let me take an example : In Argentina roughly 6 Pesos make a Euro while an Indian has to shell out around 70 Rupees to get 1 Euro and it does seem quite funny when a one way single station metro train ticket effectively costs you Rs.100 everytime. One may argue that although the Peso is close to Euro as per face value, and that an Argentinian earns as much as does an Indian when compared to Euro. Well, does he ? Even so, what about a student who does not earn ?
So the question again. Are Indians (specially the ones without scholarships) the only breed of people who feel the "Cash Crunch" while studying abroad ? Is it only this highly intellectual ;most often excellent English speaking; generally comparatively high grey mattered Indian Student Abroad who faces monetary issues ? Others meanwhile are very very busy partying.
And hence it castes fuzzy doubts in my mind about the mysteries of economic theories and their effects on the "Indian Student Abroad". I hope at the end of my course, I will be a master at answering such questions. High hopes but definitely not impossible.
